How I Approach Therapy:
After experiencing profound, positive change in my own life and relationships through therapy, I pivoted careers to help facilitate that experience for others.
Allyson enjoys helping couples identify patterns that keep them stuck, strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and reconnect emotionally so their relationship can begin to feel supportive and secure again. Sometimes it takes a new and neutral perspective to help sort through the back and forth of a relationship dance. Allyson offers guidance that is warm, affirming and challenging of the relational moves that no longer serve.
She also works with individuals and couples navigating faith transitions, mixed-faith relationships, and the complexities that can arise when questioning or leaving a religious community. These experiences can deeply impact identity, family relationships, and partnerships. Therapy offers a supportive space to process these changes, explore personal values, and begin rebuilding meaning in a way that feels authentic.
Alongside her graduate training, Allyson draws from evidence-based approaches informed by Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Her work is collaborative, thoughtful, and focused on helping clients feel understood while developing practical tools for change.
Allyson welcomes and affirms LGBTQIA+ clients and relationships. She understands that starting therapy can feel like a big step and aims to create a space where individuals and couples feel safe, respected, and supported. If you’re wondering whether therapy might be helpful for you or your relationship, she would be glad to connect.
A Little About Me:
When I’m not in the therapy office, I’m usually planning my next trip, advocating for the LGBTQ+ community, or curled up with a good historical fiction book.
In my former profession, I had the opportunity to work with many different family configurations and support children with a wide range of special needs. After personal experience raising a child with special needs, I understand how overwhelming it can feel and am passionate about supporting families and couples through this process.
I’ve been with my husband for over 20 years, and like most real relationships, it’s had its messy moments—so you won’t find judgment here. We’ve raised three kids, two of whom are neurodivergent, and that life experience strongly shapes how I show up: with empathy, warmth, and a lot of understanding.
