FAQs About Our

Therapy Services

  • The First Step

    How Do I Get Started?

Fill out a contact form or schedule an appointment through our portal. If you have questions offer a complimentary 20 minute consult before you get started.

Once your Intake Therapy Appointment is scheduled, you will receive an email inviting you to create an online profile to fill out intake paperwork. This must be completed before your first session.

You will then receive a welcome email from your clinician!

  • Consultation vs Intake

What is the Difference Between a Consultation and the Intake Session?

We offer a 20 minute complimentary phone consultation to new clients who may have questions before scheduling a full intake. If you want to talk to a specific therapist to see if they are a good fit before scheduling an intake, this is where to start.

If you do not wish to chat with your therapist before your first appointment, then you will schedule a New Therapy Client Assessment in the portal OR you can choose this option in the contact form.

  • The First Therapy Session

What Happens in the First Therapy Session?

The initial intake session is 60 minutes. Your therapist will begin the assessment process to get to know your particular needs, goals for therapy, gather your history and begin to gain understanding about what brought you to therapy.

Your therapist will ensure that you would like to continue together; if so you will schedule out further appointments to ensure your preferred time/day is reserved.

  • Out Of Network Provider

    Do You Take Insurance?

We are considered an Out of Network Provider and do NOT contract directly with insurance companies.

However, If you would like to submit a claim to your insurance company to meet your out of network benefits, we partner with a company called Thrizer to simplify claim submission. Keep in mind a diagnosis code will be needed for insurance to consider reimbursement.

Some insurance providers offer out of network benefits and therefore provide reimbursement for private pay therapy. We advise contacting your insurance company to inquire.

  • Therapy vs Psychiatry

    Do You Prescribe Medication?

As licensed therapists we are NOT medical providers and cannot prescribe medication. However we often refer patients to a trusted psychiatric nurse practitioner.

In many cases, the combination of medication and psychotherapy can help treatment progress.

Collaboration between therapist and prescriber is also strongly recommended.

  • Commitment

How Often Should I Come To Therapy?

Weekly sessions are recommended for new patients if possible. Meeting every other week is also an option if needed or if clinically appropriate but we do not recommend meeting less than this in the initial stages of therapy.

Remember, the more momentum we can build the quicker we can work toward healing,

Length of treatment is entirely based on the couple or individuals clinical need.

  • Therapy with an Intern

    What is an MFT Intern?

An MFT intern is a graduate student from Arizona State University’s Marriage and Family Therapy program who has joined the practice to complete the clinical hours required for graduation.

Interns provide high-quality, affordable therapy under expert supervision. Clients benefit from evidence-based care, fresh clinical training, and reduced rates without sacrificing quality.

As a graduate of ASU’s Marriage and Family Therapy program, Raquel is honored to provide clinical supervision and mentorship to emerging marriage and family therapists.
